I’ve been at DeTray’s Custom Housing for just over a month, and what a month it’s been! I arrived at what I consider the perfect time—right before the Seattle Home & Garden Show. From day one, it’s been a whirlwind of learning, but thanks to my incredible colleagues, the experience has been both manageable and genuinely enjoyable.
One week in, I found myself stepping into a new kind of challenge: helping at a major home show. I had never done an event like this before, and naturally, I was nervous. But I got a very thorough crash course starting day one where Michelle, Tommy, and Jonathan prepared me for the questions I might face. Of course, I wasn’t able to answer all the questions at first, but the team’s support made it easy to ask questions and learn on the spot. That first week, working the show, gave me a good grasp of the industry and helped me understand just how dynamic and customer-focused our work really is.
Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting numerous families searching for their ideal homes. Many are looking for four or more bedrooms—perfect for growing families or grandparents who want space to host family gatherings and visiting grandchildren. I love that we offer a diverse range of floor plans to meet these needs, allowing each family to find a home that’s truly “just right.”
Another frequent request is for homes that accommodate multi-generational living. For instance, a family might include parents, two children, and a grandparent. In these cases, I’ve been thrilled to show them our creative floor plans that feature two primary bedrooms, each with its own bathroom—providing comfort and privacy for everyone.
Every day, I’m reminded of the opportunity I have been given: connecting with families and helping them find homes that suit their lifestyles, big or small. DeTray’s Custom Housing isn’t just about building houses—it’s about building spaces where families can thrive.
