Eight Years In – Reflecting on an Unexpectedly Rewarding Journey!
I still remember my first 30 days at DeTray’s Custom Housing — feeling excited, overwhelmed, and incredibly inspired. Now, eight years later, I can say with complete confidence: that excitement never left. It just evolved into something deeper — a genuine passion for what I do and the people I serve.
Back then, I was learning model numbers, memorizing standard features, and doing my best to keep up with the fast-paced world of manufactured housing. Today, I’ve grown into a confident, knowledgeable consultant who gets to guide people through one of the most important decisions of their lives: finding a home.
The role continues to challenge and motivate me. The manufactured housing industry is always changing — new designs, new regulations, evolving customer needs — and I love that I get to keep learning. No two days are the same, and each new customer brings fresh questions and stories that make my job meaningful.

The customers remain the best part of my day. I’ve gone from saying “Let me find that out for you,” to “Let me walk you through your options.” Watching people’s eyes light up when they realize that their dream of homeownership is within reach? That never gets old.
And of course, I wouldn’t be here without the incredible team that surrounds me. Our management continues to be a wellspring of support and knowledge, and I’ve gained lifelong friendships and mentors who genuinely care about my growth and success.
What started as “just a new job” has become a career I’m proud of — a journey filled with purpose, joy, and people who make it all worthwhile.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in these eight years, it’s this: when you find a job where you’re challenged, supported, and appreciated, it stops feeling like work. It becomes something you look forward to every single day.
Feel free to reach out to me, I would love to hear from you!
